Remember last year, hot as all get out, the parade, the local flavor.......now you can re-live those experiences again this year as the Downtown Merchants Association in co-operation with the Keep Kelly Green committee and the Kelly Fire Department Special Events committee present the 2005 Kelly Spring Festival on Saturday April 30.
Carolina PT Cruiser's are specifically invited to return this year since you didn't cause any trouble last year (even though some of you forgot to bring any candy to throw out during the parade).
The parade starts at 11:00 am so you need to be here no later than 10:30 to stage if you desire to be in the parade, otherwise, just get here. There will be a special parking area for the PT's at the festival grounds in downtown Kelly.
The parade will be held on Highway 53 which is shutdown for this parade. All activities are under the watchful eye of the Bladen County Sherrifs Dept, and the NC Hiway Patrol, who bring their newest unmarked cars for public display.
Activities and Great food (bar-b-que, fried chicken, etc) will be available at modest cost and benefiting the local Kelly Volunteer Fire Dept (which I am a new member of).
Kelly is located between I-40 at Burgaw, and White Lake (just outside E-Town) on NC Hiway 53. Hiway 53 is a major connector to I-40 and the main route for the NC Hiway Patrol between Troop Headquarters in E-Town and Interstate 40. The speed limit of 55 in Kelly is enforced and the state patrol is often observed driving much faster looking for speeders on their souped up John Deers and Massey Fergursons.
If you get time before or after the activities, you are also welcomed to stop at Wallys Farm located conveniently just off Hiway 53 at the eastern end of Kelly at the "Tuckerville" subdivision (look for the big green sign that says "TUCKERVILLE")...come on in for a cool one!
So if you have nothing to do on April 30, and you're not going to the Virgina State PT Meet in Richmond or to the Cleveland Rocks! Cruise, come on down to Kelly for a fun day!
