After the Panthers big win on Sunday night, a thought just hit me out of the blue.
I've never been one to believe in superstitions, numerology, or that kind of stuff, but I guess I could change my mind.
Heres "my thought" for you to ponder.
What do the Florida Marlins and the Carolina Panthers have in common?
The Marlins won the 2003 World Series under the leadership of Jack McKeon. Jack Mckeon began his major league baseball career in Thomasville as a player for the old Hi-Toms Baseball team; a former member of the Carolina League. Later in life, McKeon began his baseball managing career back in Thomasville at the helm of the Hi-Toms Baseball team. The rest, as they say is history. At 72 year young, Coach McKeon wins the World Series.
Back a few years ago in Thomasville, there was a little boy who had his heart set on playing little league football. But, mom wouldn't let him for fear that he could get hurt. She allowed him to play scoccer for a season, but after seeing the injuries that scoccer can produce, she gave in and allowed him to play football.
He began his football career in the little league programs around Thomasville. In High School he developed into an outstanding player for Ledford High School. Oh, by the way, it is the Ledford PANTHERS. After a getting his college education, he decided he would try out as a walk on for the Carolina Panthers. Who is this young man? Carolina Panthers #45 Brad Hoover. The rest as they say is history.
Could my little town of Thomasville become a Championship City of sorts?
Could the Thomasville connection be an omen?
Let's hope so. GO Panthers!!!!!!
