The Car Connection has posted pictures of some spy shots of the upcoming changes in store for the PT. With the wider front end, it could mean possibly a V6...maybe? And they elude to the fact it may also include an AWD version. www.thecarconnection.com/index.asp?article=6777

Nope don't like it don't like it at all. Just leave things alone they all work and it's a great style.

Notice how flat the hood and front end is. It will definitely lose some of that distinctive styling but may provide more engine room area for hopefully a bigger engine. That's just my thoughts, the article says nothing about a V6. All cars have to evolve or either be left behind. How do you update or modernize a retro car without destroying the whole concept? It's got to be tough on their designers.

Could it be any uglier. If that is going to be the next Cruiser they should just discontinue it instead of screwing the car up.

Kinda werid. I wish they had a pic of them without the front cover on. I think I might like the grille but not the hood. The flater hood just doesn't look right cause the rest of the car is rounded. You just can't flatten a hood and have it look right. Ah. . . NO. Oh well, leave it to Chrysler to make an awesome car then screw it up with later models. Now the California concept that I've seen looks pretty cool. Alot better than these new ones.

Folks don't get too excited, or upset about the spy pics. There's nothing unusual about car makers having "test mules" running around, and alot of the time they look nothing like the finished product. Even most of the concepts shown never make it to production. Anybody able to buy one of these yet?? or All 3 coupes, none have made it to production. Let's wait and see what DC actually comes out with.....

Chrysler has been real good at making prototypes into production cars. These three were basically show cars. The one most likely to have some of the styling cues make it into production is the bottom one, the California Cruiser. The orange one was strictly a race/show car for the SEMA show. And that top one, the back half of the car just doesn't match the front half. But usually when you see test cars with blanked out areas or covers on them, the manufacturer is trying to hide it for a reason and according to the "Car Connection", it's usually to keep spy cameras from picking up on the redesign until it's finalized.
I think most of us original PT owners will not care for any redesigned PT as much as the first. When the Taurus first came out, it was compared to Audi and was ahead of it's time. As the years went on, the design became more generic. Not many movie sequels did as well as the first.
This car was designed as retro. It has to be tough on the designers to maintain the "retro-ness" of this car and keep it unique enough but still modernize it as time goes on.
I read in a report somewhere that Chrysler will be moving to and using a new shared chassis with Mitsubishi and Mercedes. Shared drivetrains are also common now. So it could be they are adjusting the PT body to accomodate some these new shared components.
The uniqueness of the PT and the fact very little of it could be shared with any other Chrysler car makes it expensive to build. Eventually they have to streamline or share components or it will be dropped or the price will go up.
Just my thoughts on it anyway. Your mileage and price may vary. FDIC insured. May cause diarrhea and skin rash in some cases. Not to be taken if you are pregnant or may become pregnant. Ctrl+Alt+Delete.

The blue one in the first pic is pretty cool but looks too much like a Cruiser/Crossfire mix. One or the other is awesome but put together doesn't work that well.

The car companys still havent learned. Its small changes that make the changes great, not the huge changes. If they changed the design of the grill a lil, it could be good. But to modify the whole front end would be a disaster. I agree, you cant modify something that was designed from something retro.
