Tires

It's time for me to replace the tires on my PT. The tires are Goodyear Eagles. The size is 205/50R17. I'm looking for a good tire at a good price. Any and all suggestion will be appreciated.

I've been through a few sets of cheap tires that I didn't get very good mileage out of, but one tire that really has impressed me so far is the Nexen 5000. Very even wear, good traction and good mileage so far.

I'm running a 225/45/17 on my GT. This particular tire works well on the 6" wide GT rims, even though most books will say that a 225 is too wide for a 6" wide rim. Tires of the same numerical size vary greatly in sidewall profile. I had a set of Hankook tires that were 215/45 that were actually narrower than the factory 205 tires. I had them swapped out for the 225s just to get back to a stock width of sidewall.

I have the original set of tires and rims that came on my Limited with about 25K miles on them, still good tread and the rims are the chrome spoke.

I just looked at your site again and you said 17's I am pretty sure mine are 16.

I don't know if they still have it, but 5 weeks ago when I wrecked my cruiser Discount Tire had Pirelli's on sale with a 60k mile warranty for $108 a tire, that was with full warranty, lifetime rotations and balance. That's a darned good price for an all-weather sport type tire.

You can also go cheaper and get the Falken Ziex-912's for about $98 a tire for your size, same road hazard and rotations, etc., but with a 48k mile warranty.

You'll love the (Sumitomo HTR +) tires.
Great looking profile and excellent handling tire.
I had them on both my PTs and I also have them on my Chevy S-10 truck.
