Well, I really haven't been around much lately and for that I apologize, but after losing the house and almost losing the car we've not had much in the way of finances so I've been sitting in my office playing around with other hobbies. I just wanted to share them with you all, you've always been so supportive and I thought maybe you'd like to see what I've been up to.
First, along with cars, I've always been an avid rock hound. I pick up nice looking rocks and have a large collection - Crystals, geodes, spheres, sand roses, etc. So since I had no money, I started back into my lapidary hobby - cutting and polishing stones - just to reduce some stress. Here's what started coming out of me, not sure where the ideas came from other than being stone broke...lol...
started by cleaning up stones, this led to ...
that's my very first polished cab..which led to ...
when my rockhounding buddies saw that, they said I should try to make some jewelry, so my first attempt went pretty well, I made 25 pairs of polished turquoise earrings and sold them all in one weekend...
Next thing I knew, I was being invited to show my jewelry at shops around town, my daughters fitness center, etc. I sat in my office for almost a full year making jewelry, basically went nuts with it...
Then a couple of nice young ladies asked me if I would work with them to help coordinate and set up a market place for local artists in Mooresville, now we have a monthly event called the Mooresville Craft Crawl, see our site:
thecraftcrawl.com
I've gone berserk and really making literally hundreds of pieces of jewelry a month, now if I could sell them!!! lol...
This was just last weekend's creations, still need to hang them on silver or gold or whatever...
The bloodstone listed above is actually a very rare turquoise, I incorrectly identified that. Anyway, I've been extremely busy, I don't know where this came from, this talent or whatever you want to call it, but it's kept me out of my car and out of shows, along with away from spending a lot of money...
