anyone have any experience with p0517(battery temperature sensor HIGH). I installed new battery today but the code still came back.

There is a battery temp sensor in the bottom of the battery tray (White plastic thing in the middle of the tray). Check the connections if you can find them. Otherwise, it's probably a bad sensor. Never heard of one going bad til now though.
