Friend of mine over on PTCrew mentioned that he's thinking of doing a trip down here from Canada the last week of July, and to the Dragon/Chero loop. Was wanting to see if anyone else was interested in joining. No specifics set yet, would likely drive up on a Friday and maybe do Friday/Saturday, unless we have others who are free during the week as traffic will be much lighter on a week day. Pretty intense road, I'll have to pass. That time of year even in the mountains, A/C is needed. Those hills and curves with an automatic PT with the A/C on. . . .well, no one would want to be behind me. They would push me over one of the curves. Would love to do it in an Austin Healy 3000 or a TR6.

Lots of Motorcyclists go down there and run that route. They have camera thru out taking your picture.

I've rigged a tripod mount in the floorboard of the front passenger seat so will video the entire drive, just for grins. We're going to probably do this on a weekday as I detest making the run with motorcycles passing me at every turn, I don't need that much excitement...

Most motorcycle forums post that the best time to ride the dragon is during the week.So guess what,this time of year the dargon is pretty congested with motorcycles during the week.And dont forget.the dragon is a US highway so during the week there is also many many many tractor trailer rigs on the road.There is really no best time to ride it.Weekdays =lotsa big rigs and weekends = lotsa motorcycles.27 times I tamed the dragon and have 3 more rides scheduled this year. |
