seems that over the last month or so i've seen "alot" more PT's than i can remember before then - might be because i've my own PT now, but may just be that there are more around....any ways....i've also noticed that not all PT owners are very friendly and even seem to be a bit snobbish when approached by another PT (me) on the road....has anyone else encountered this? i wave and smile, blink lights etc...but the gestures are met with aloofness........just what is up with these PT owners and any suggestions about how to "get them in the PT groove"?

My theory is that there are so many more PTs on the road, the bond that was once there when they were somewhat of a rarity is no longer there. I believe so many have bought them just because they are a car and Chrysler we giving rebates. PTs still are as common as certain Japanese brands or even Cavaliers.
We always wave to other PT'ers or flash the lights and I would say less than 25% of them wave or flash back.

Yup it's gone to the side of The PT is just another car on the road any more. I remeber when i first got mine it was rare to see another and i used to get all excited seeing a newer one in town now it's a everyday thing to see 5 or 10 around town and most of them are totally stock, nothing wrong with that but you know they just bought it for the rebates and don't have a clue of what us old timers went throught to get this wonderful little car. So i say keep on waving, blinking those lites and what ever it takes because you just never know who will do it back and when they do it makes your day.

There are those who see the PT for more than just transportation.....and those people are HERE (and the other forums/clubs). You relate to those kinds of social folks.
Others who buy the PT may not even know WE exist....you have to approach them and tell them, then ignore the ones who appear to ignore you.
PT Car shows/meets and greets are a good way to introduce OURSELVES to those not yet in the know about the PT Cruiser enthusiast community.
There are over 500,000 PT's on the road but there are less than 300 PToholics world-wide...how can that be?
Did you know that a few decades ago I was a VWBugoholic? Formed a Eastern US VW Club called the "Super Duper Beetle Bug Club". For the lack of an Internet, it died after gaining a few members. And then in the seventies I was a CustomVanoholic....was North Carolina representative of the North American Van Association....again, no Internet. It died too.

A lot of the PT's I see are driven by little older ladies that I'm guessing don't work and their husbands brought the PT home and said "here is another car for you to drive." So they don't see it as anything special. I wave and honk at them anyway just to see their reaction.

i did a "john the stalker" today! ;D i saw a white[glow=white,2,300]PTCruiser[/glow] today and i searched the two stores in the area for it's owner asking every shopper i encountered if the cruiser was theirs! lol (i even over heard one woman say to another "i wish it were mine" ;D)....the plate read PT 4-2. when i found the owner, who was a bit shocked that i was asking about her car, i told her about the carolina PT cruisers and mentioned the zoo cruise. i left the web site addy on her windshield written on the back of a receipt. *chuckle* - time to get some cards made up. someone had told me about a cruiser with that license plate in the area so i just had to get up with the owner - and i did! she probably thinks i'm a crazy woman! lol

[glow=red,2,300]CRAZY[/glow] is OK, I think we all are to a certain point. My neighbors think I'm crazy when I wash the PT in 40 degree temps. They have actually told me I'm going to wash the paint off the car. Just so long we understand each other!!! ;D

Sometimes I forget what car I'm in and when I wave at them from my other car, they probably either think I'm crazy or a masher. Or if I flash my lights, I'm alerting them of a radar cop up ahead. When we're in the PT and do it, much less than half of them wave back, some smile.
