RE: 2005 Turbo Car is at the dealer's for the second time in 3 days. Had several episodes of "failure to start" in the last few months. First time in Nov/Dec and AAA towed it in to dealership and they changed the battery. Several times I've tried to start it and it worked on the second try. Last Sat AAA jumped it after an hour of trying to start it and started up just fine. Took it in to the dealer Mon morning to have them "trouble shoot" the problem; picked it up at 5:00 p.m. and they said they couldn't find anything wrong. Yesterday I turned it off at lunchtime and it happened again. Turn the key and the engine lights come on but nothing else. I've had it towed in twice and Newwirth's can't find anything wrong with it! Any suggestions?

Try Another Dealer?
They need to look up the history file of TSB's. There may be something there on that issue.
Could be bad ignition switch. I would STRONGLY suggest that since they can't seem to fix it.

Is the engine turning but not firing or is the starter not activating? Any codes thrown? To get codes yourself, turn the ignition "on-off-on-off-on without actually cranking the engine. Codes will display in the odometer display. (PXXXX etc.) Ask the dealer if any codes wwere thrown.

My 2003 did the same thing. Starter replaced 3 times. Finaly found out I could tap the starter and she would fire up just fine. Dealer never did find what was causing it. So far its been about 6 weeks with no problem starting. Mine did not show any codes and none was found at dealer either.
But mine was doing the same thing even a jump start would not get it to crank. Lights and everything else worked just fine.
See my post in "No crank update for my Pt" for more info.

I have an '06 with the same start problem. Dealership told me to check the battery, but the battery is fine. Said if I brought the car in and it didn't happen, they would have to assume that nothing was wrong. I did the check for codes as suggested by Cruiser Psycho, but nothing showed. Very annoying to know something is wrong with my "lil'8 ball" and can't seem to get anyone at the dealership to take me seriously

Just had the sensor on the cam shaft replaced, had something to do with firing order. Thought first it was the fuel pump, hit the tank and got it going but it wouldn't really run.But got it on the the road.
