I've been using the Mobil1 oil filter as well as the oil...stay away from Fram filters! Absolutely the WORST filters on the market! Just curious...why is Fram so bad? I'ved used them all my life...and that's a long life ;D Any documentation to back that up?

Today i made the switch!!! My PT is running Mobil 1 through it's veins ;D. But i must say that is a tight place to put the filter. Nice location but needs a little more room to get your hand around it. Take Care, Mark

Something wasn't mentioned concerning how often to change your oil. TURBO or NON TURBO engine is also a deciding factor in frequency of oil changes. As I understand it, the TURBO creates much more internal heat and requires oil changes around 3,000 miles. Having a NON TURBO engine, I usually change my oil (non synthetic) around 5,000 miles. I do this in all my cars and thankfully have had no problems. I do think that your driving style and the type of driving you do is very important in this decision.

Having both a non-turbo and a turbo, I have "experimented" using synthetic and non-synthetic oils throughout ownership. Synthetic in the turbo(Mobil 1, full synthetic, Mopar filters every 3,000 miles), and Quaker State, Mopar filters every 3,000 miles with NO problems. Much debate about filters, oil, change intervals...I believe it's what you believe or learned from experience. Granted, there are poor quality filters and oils out there, but the one thing that's most important to me is changing oil/filters regularly based on driving style, conditions, experiences. Engine builders swear by scheduled oil/filter changes..it just makes sense because the greatest damage to engines is cold start-ups, and heat(friction). Why not minimize potential damage. Probably one of the most cost effective, preventative maintanence measures around. And that's my.02!
