I'm considering switching to full synthetic.I wondered if or when it's too late to do it . I have almost 22,000 miles on my PT.

Never too late. I bought an old Volvo and switched over at 98,000 miles and drove it until it had 184,000 miles. A Buick LeSabre...178,000 miles. On my PT...the first oil change at 600 miles I switched over to Mobil 1.
Have used Mobil 1 on every car I've had since it hit the market and can honestly say I've never had one internal engine problem with any car I've had.
Knock on wood !

Ditto . I've used Mobil 1 for the past 8 years and would never use anything else again .

For the guys using Mobil 1 synthetic oil. What do you think about the extended performance one 15,000 mile protection? Are you using that or would you trust it to go that long.
Thanks, Mark

I would not be comfortable letting any oil run that far between changes. I know they say you can and it probably would be alright, but I am 3000 mile changer even with my Mobil 1.

I do about 80 miles a day to work and back, mainly interstate,I use Mobile 1 synth ( not extended life) but change it every 5000 miles .If I mainly did around town ,stop and go I would still do the 3000 mile change.

I run the regular Mobil1 in mine and TRY to change it within 3000 miles, but since I mainly run my PT on interstates and on weekends/days off from work...I don't worry if I run a few extra 2K miles before oil change.

Total agreement with everyone here. Been using Moblil 1 since I got the PT's.Always change at 2000-3000. For me though, time goes by before milage accrues. Just because Mobil says to 5000 or 7500, I believe 3000 is enough. All oil breaks down, so why risk it?

I agree with Rocky's statement. You must use a good quality oil filter.
I myself have used a non-synthetic oil for years and have had very good luck. 3000 mile oil changes are also a must with non-synthetic oil.

I've been using the Mobil1 oil filter as well as the oil...stay away from Fram filters! Absolutely the WORST filters on the market!

Thanks for the heads up on the filter.

I use Castrol Syntec Blend exclusively in my PT with a Fram oil filter. I haven't gotten up the gusto to try a K&N filter. How much more expensive are they?
