Has anyone had any experience with ceramic brake pads? I understand that the 100% ceramic pads are great and produce no brake dust.

Dolan:
I'm getting ready to replace mine for the very reason you mention . Several CPTC club members have done this and are very happy with little or no dust. DO NOT use the MOPAR parts; expensive and not as good as NAPA or other ceramic pads. I know Sherry & Roger just did their 2 PT's, and they are very pleased.

Are you going to just replace the pads or the pads and rotors? What did Roger and Sherri do?

Mike has ceramic pads on his and very happy with them as well. I don't think Mike replaced his rotors.

the pads are the only thing that would throw brake dust, so replacing just the pads should do the trick. plan to do the same when ours wear out.

Dolan: Unless the rotors are warped or grooved, you can replace only the pads. That's what Sherri & Roger did, and what I plan to do.

Just to add on here...last week I had the Blue PT brakes inspected as they were pulling to the right when braking....they found the caliper bad on the right front and excessive pad wear...all the other pads were in spec as were the rotors. The car has 4 disks and 50000 on it and this was the first brake work. I replaced both of the calipers and went with Ceramix pads, and turned the front rotors. Did nothing to the rear.

We at Moparsupercenter.com offer a set of pads that are carbonfiber metallic that offer excellent stopping power and and almost no brake dust. We have sold many of these pads to the SRT-4 folks love them. I have a set of our stage 1 rotors on order and I will have a set of these pads on my Pt shortly. I can't wait til the wife's ride needs pads so I can take the factory ones off.

Having ceramic brake pads on the front of "Woodie" has been truly fantastic. It was getting very difficult to keep the whitewall tires looking good. Since "Woodie" is my daily driver, I can tell a huge difference in the brake dust. I actually haven't had any brake dust. Even driving to the beach and back the front tires and wheels looked as good as the back! They have also done very well on "PatrioT" too. We replaced the factory brake pads on the back of "PatrioT" because they squeaked soooo bad. There was plenty of pad left, we just couldn't stand the noise anymore. Now we are very happy cruising! ;D

I had the front factory pads replaced with Raybestos 100% ceramic pads on Monday before RTTB6. The rotors showed some wear so my mechanic turned both. On the trip to MB and back I could not see any brake dust on the wheels as before, even on a short trip. If I did the "white glove" test, there was some dust but NOTHING like before. And plenty of stopping power, very smooth. I'm sold!

Installed ceramic pads some time ago and am very pleased with no more dust. Went all the way to Myrtle Beach 6 and back and still no dust to speak of. Got them from Auto Zone for around $46. Had installed at a local shop for another $46. You won't be sorry if you have them installed.
