Had my PT back at he dealer to rectify the misfire( and by the way had them regap the plugs at a loose .45 or so and the misfire is gone. Thanks for the tip!) and the dimming of the lights(he made sure that the grounds were properly seated, lights still dim randomly) and service tech noticed that the cold cranking amps on battery is only 510.
Me and him was just wondering if this had anything to do with the headlight mystery(he has a 2004 and it does the same thing). We understand that once the car is started most cars will be adequately powered by the alternator but he did some checking and there are some systems that run on the battery even if the car is running. He didnt say which ones.
Has anyone replaced there battery and still notice the headlight mystery or maybe did that solve it.?
Merry Christmas to all and God bless everyone.

Hey Tom,
I think the headlight flicker is the voltage regulator wavering a bit. I can't remember where I read that but it seems to be a plausible diagnosis. Any time you make an electrical load change (hit brakes etc) the rush of current to the device throws off the reulation sensing cicuitry. I wonder if better grounding would fix this. I can't imagine the grounding being all that bad these days with all the electronics in cars demanding a stable electrical environment but you never know. The car manufacturers are always limited by budget.
Later,
Brian
