Its Thursday and we should have been on the road to St Augustine 2 hours ago. Our daughter Kayla and her mini daschund, Riley, are coming with us. Riley had surgery 2 weeks ago (ok, we had her fixed); 1 week ago Kayla took her back to the vet as some skin had pulled away from the incision; vet put Riley under again, glued her together and said she will be fine. Yesterday Kayla took Riley to have stitches out and vet tells her that Riley pulled inner stitches out and she yet again needs to have surgery to restitch. By now Kayla is hysterical. The vet restitches and Riley has to stay overnight...but we can pick her up at 7:30 in the morning (that would be this morning). So my husband Ken and Kayla go to get Riley and arrive to find out during the night Riley chewed her stitches out. And we find out they didnt put one of the 'protective collars' on her to prevent this and there was no one there at the clinic all night. So now its 9am Thursday and the vet calls and say we can now pick up Riley...and it is pouring down the rain!!!!!!
The day just HAS to get better.

We have a brother & sister mini-dachshund. OK, so they aren't so mini right now. Like their parents, they've gotten a bit pudgy.
When Greta was 6 months old, we had her fixed. You would have thought she had never had surgery. She came home just as frisky and jumped up on the sofa just like any other day. It never slowed her down, she never had a problem with it.
Since you'll have her in the car with you, you can watch her to make sure she doesn't nibble at those stitches. Have a safe and fun trip.
