If anyone else happens to be around the Morganton area or surrounding areas you know of the big floods here. I heard that the dams around Lake James are getting weaker because of the pressure added to them from the lake water. Just to let you all know, mainly the ones that are close to the Catawba River and any rivers/creeks that come from the Catawba, be watching for any quick rises. Unfortunately, officals there say the possiblity of a dam or a number of dams busting is good right now. So, anyone downstream need to be on the look out for this.

Thanks James, Seems like the worst is over now. The waters are slowly getting lower but still very high. Now gotta worry about Ivan coming up this way.

Have a freind that has some property on Lake Hickory just on the Hickory side of Rhodhiss Dam. His is an old farm that they don't live on they just have picnics etc on it. We were going to use it some next weekend. Thanks to Frances no one will be using it for a while. Flooded big time and now that the water had droped he said that there was 6 inches of mud everywhere. Yuck, I guess it could be worse however. My family lives in Orlando and Mom is about over all these hurricanes. Anne
