Marcye & I are planning to join the cruise as you come through Roanoke. We do not plan on making the entire cruise to Gatlinburg.....will have to decide when we will return later. We are definitely looking forward to cruising with all of you again. Carrol Groovy! Wish you could go all the way with us. Nice time of year in Gatlinburg.

I have just finished speaking with police in Front Royal VA, Waynesboro VA, Bedford VA, Mt Airy NC, Boone NC, Lenoir NC, and Gatlinburg TN. In every location, I was told that gas is mostly available. There are occasional stations running out but most are not. Prices are generally $3.19 for regular and $3.59 for premium (these are the low prices).
We have been planning this trip for a year and canceling the trip is the last thing I want to do. I prefer to remain optimistic that we have seen the worst and it will only improve between now and our trip (well, maybe not prices).
The trip is ON. I am also going to be calling each of you very shortly to tell you personally (if I have your number). Then I need to go pack the car and get ready to head out. Y’all be careful out there!

Thanks to everyone who participated. We had a GREAT time visiting some beautiful places and meeting with some real American heroes. Complete event details will be posted at the event website soon. Pics are at www.imagestation.com/album/index.html?id=2120890544and I will add captions soon. Thanks to the generosity of the participants and the generous (and unsolicited) donation from Linda at PT Boutique, we were able to present Jerry Hatfield of the Caldwell County Veterans Service a contribution of $626 to assist local veterans. Many more thanks to follow after I catch my breath!

Well Darryl, You did it again Sweetie... another great cruise down the Blue Ridge Parkway. I'm really glad that one of the trees saved your PT from going over the mountain (with Wanda in it)! Thank goodness Sherri was there to do emergency first aid and get the PT all bandaged up for ya! ;D I just wish she would of had a full gas can with her! Ok, I got my pics posted and I did manage to get one of the baby bear. Here ya go community.webshots.com/user/rallen9133

Becky, Great pics. Thanks. I see you weren't the only one to wear your 'bra' on this trip ;D. What happened to Darryl LOL! I was told all weekend that I wasn't really "Topless" unless I took my bra off! As for Darryl..... I wasn't there.... it happened before I caught up with them... but word is the emergency brake broke lose and the car rolled down hill into a tree. I'm sure he'll be back in here to give the WHOLE story!

Right on the nosie, Miss B! I set the parking brake at a rest stop and Wanda stayed behind in the passenger seat. While I was, er, uh, relieving myself, there was a LOUD pop and the car took off backwards (I have a 5-speed and left it out of gear because I was going to leave it running in case she wanted to swwitch on the AC). By the time I got outside, the car was resting against a tree and several guys were standing there watching the angel (disguised as a tree) holding Wanda back from the cliff.
With the help of several strong, young men, we managed to push the car back onto the road. Thanks for EVERYONE who made a valiant attempt to prevent the damage! Y'all are da bomb!

Darryl, At least no one was injured, believe me I know first hand what it feels like to have a lil fender bender while on a cruise. but knowing what a up beat person you are I'm sure it didn't ruin the rest of your trip.Take care!!!!

We had an awesome time once again cruising the Blue Ridge Parkway. Thanks to Darryl & Wanda for setting up such a wonderful event! We really got to spend quality time with our PT friends and enjoy some breath taking sites. Already looking forward to next year! A special thanks to all who donated for the Veterans of our local American Legion Post 29! Here are some pictures - hope you enjoy them! community.webshots.com/album/450496626fIViwx

Darryl, Just curious...how many cars did the whole Parkway this time and how many cars did you have total at one time or the other?

Darryl, Just curious...how many cars did the whole Parkway this time and how many cars did you have total at one time or the other? Quick facts: Of the 4 cars thaqt started the bonus day, 3 went the full distance. We picked up one more car at the beginning of the Blue Ridge Parkway and they also went the entire parkway. We had 18 cars involved at one point or another. The most we ever had together was 15.
