Having the problem right now on wife's PT.....and it's already been in the shop. Sometimes it goes out, sometimes it just stays on. Way outa warranty so I'm just hoping it'll go away....will probaly end up back in the shop. The car still drives, and heck...just think of the MANY years (we) went without air bags installed, for that matter without seatbelts installed.

Just put ZZ Taupe in the shop for a similar thing. The engine light came on. We'll see tomorrow what the problem is and what it'll cost. It could be a number of things with 61,000 miles on it now.

Got back home today from a business trip for 3 days and started the PT and the air bag light did not come on. I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens.

Light on = EGR valve gone bad. Should have changed it myself but had the dealer do it while it was there. Also had the trans flushed and new fluid and filter.

Well today, I started up the PT and instead of the air bag light now the engine light is on? I will have to drive to work in the morning (15 miles) maybe I can get a mechanic to check it out. Hope that it won't hurt it??

Don't play around with that air bag light, that's what happened to me 3 years ago when after the light was on and off for 2 days, the air bag finaly deployed while the car was off and parked in the garage, the only bad thing was that I was sitting in the parked car in the garage. Not that this will happen to you but it's better to be safe, Air Bags hurt twice as much when there is no impact.

Today I had the PT checked and had to have a EGR Assembly $116.74 total. That has seemed to fix things!!!

Tell me all they did please. My dealer charged $183 for diagnostics, the EGR valve and labor. I called Stuart Bowman just for a comparison and they said their charges would be about $145 for all of it. If your dealer is that much cheaper, I coming to Gastonia instead of Monroe.

I did not take to a dealer, There is a mechanic in Bessemer City that we all use at work, been there for a long time, builds his own championship dragster and has a 3 bay shop beside his house. He has all the equipment and can do about anything, ( I don't think he does transmissions) His name is Steve Splawn (Splawn Automotive Repair) My car was Labor $55.00, Parts $57.70, Tax $4.04, Total $116.74, When I took it to him yesterday morning the engine light went away, he told me that he would do a diagnostics and that would tell him what it is and he fixed it. He said the egr comes as a kit and he had to get it out of Charlotte, they delivered in the afternoon and he put it on.

That's true the EGR does come as a kit. I ordered one through the dealership $57.50 picked up and put it on myself Friday. I was having an issue with the PT surging and had the computer reprogrammed once back in Oct. 03. All the research I did kept pointing to the EGR valve even though I was not getting a light or any codes off it. I replaced the EGR Valve, Spark Plugs and wires on Friday and the surge is gone now that it has run a bit ( computer reset ). The EGR Valve was a little bit of an issue getting it un bolted and back on but I found it much easeir if you took out the Air intake box. It was four bolts and sensor and vacuum line hook up that was all.
