WOW...what a show. They broke all records. So many cars they ran out of goody bags and registration forms. I heard from 2 sources that there were 420 cars and also heard there were 500+ cars. Either way, it was spectacular.
Awards started with the top 150 cars and the PT'ers made a great showing. Winners in that catagory were in no particular order (and if I forget anyone, I'm sorry...post other winners here):
Scott & Susan Hill, Hank & Judy LaBor, Richard Dickerson, Brandy Boyd, Sherri Austin, Pete & Debbie Hackney, Tony Hackney, Tim Willis, Anne Willis, Becky Allen and Jeff Brackett. (thanks Tim...Dwight & Joan Fretwell got a top 150 also)
Scott & Susan Hill won a top award for BEST PAINT.
Roger Austin won one for his 1960 Chevy Biscayne.
Congrats to all of them. Our little PT's made a heck of a showing amonst all of the other fine cars at the show.
And we actually had the most cars from a CLUB. But we didn't win the "Club Participation Award". We had 20 PT's there. Apparently the show organizers could not make a distinction between CLUB and GARAGE. Hughes Automotive took the "CLUB" participation award. They are a garage. Bays. Lifts. Oil changes. Engine work. Alignments. Tire sales. You get the picture. They had 28 cars there from friends and customers. Had a Ford club, Camaro club, any other type of car club had won, no issue. But a repair shop and garage beat us out. You could over hear people throughout the crowd say the same thing..."But they aren't a club, they're a garage".
We all still looked damn good.
