2003 automatic. I have noticed that coming to a stop with foot off gas and brake being applied the tranny gives a harder than what I would expect second gear to first gear downshift. The revs come up and then drop back down. Is this normal and if not could this cause unusual wear and tear on transmission?
If this has already been answered before I apologize for the repost.
Thanks Dave

I have 2004 auto and I haven't noticed your problem ,but mine has stalled once and seemed to try to stall a couple of other times with moderate braking and foot off the gas. This is just at the poiint of actually coming to complete stop sort of like a manual with the clutch partially engage while stopping. This concerns me.

If you pull it down into first while moving and above 20 mph, it just drops it into 2nd gear. Once you hit 20 mph on the slowdown, it drops it automatically into first. This is why the revs jump up, it has moved into a lower gear. Once it slows the car down, the revs drop as well.
This is, of course if you shift it manually down to first. If it's doing this on it's own and you haven't touched the gear shift lever, you may want to have them check it out.
