If events were ranked by the participants in a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being most favorable) I would rank this event as a 10. This being so even though I only went half way. Planning, execution, and completion was excellent. Darryl and Wanda deserve many rounds of cheer and appreciation!
Let's do it again (in reverse) next year!

Wow, what a cruise! I agree Wally, it was definitely a 10! We arrived in Cherokee, NC Wednesday afternoon to rain and flooding in southwestern NC. The rain stopped by Thursday morning but there was still a lot of flooding and damage caused by the storms which closed sections of the parkway and highways from Cherokee to Boone. Thursday was more like a challenge to see if we could get to Boone! Several attempts meeting road blocks but we finally made it thru the first full day (adding over 100 miles to our scheduled cruise!). The weather was gorgeous all day, sunny 70's and folks were out trying to clean up and get the roads open again. Dinner at the Daniel Boone Inn was awesome, I've never seen so much food! Friday was another gorgeous sunny day starting out at Grandfather Mountain and then on to the Linn Cove Viaduct. From there we headed up the parkway to the Moses Cone 3600 acre mountain estate which I would like to have as my next home please! Friday night was spent in Mt. Airy (Mayberry), NC where more cruisers joined us from NC and VA. Saturday we headed up the parkway and stopped in Roanoke, VA and was welcomed by the Star City PT Cruisers! Their 18 pt's joined in the cruise and we were up to 45 PT's! We had lunch at the Peaks of Otter (another fabulous place!) then cruised on to the Visitor's Center for one last photo op before going into Waynesboro, VA. Well, guess who is standing there to meet us, none other than LouR! What a wonderful surprise to see at the end of the parkway! From the visitor's center we paraded into Waynesboro to the Fire Department (yes.... I got to see the firemen!) where Darryl presented them with a $1,000+ donation he collected along the way from the cruisers, and thanked them for their service and hard work. This was our way of recognizing the anniversary of 9-11. It was wonderful seeing old friends again! I made so many new friends this trip, cruiser folks are definitely special people. I hope you enjoy the pictures half as much as I enjoyed taking them. Here's the link community.webshots.com/user/rallen9133. Thank you Darryl and Wanda for such an awesome cruise!

I just wanted to say that we Star City PT Cruisers enjoyed cruising with all of you. The event was a lot of fun and well planned. I agree with Becky, PT Cruisers are special people.....the more I meet, the more this is true. We look forward to next year in reverse ;D
