I'm hearing rumors that the Daytona show has been cancelled. I've tried to contact the president of the FirstCoastCruisers for comfirmation, but haven't heard anything back yet. Does anyknow know for sure?

I haven't heard anything but there is a blank page on First Coast Cruiser webpage about that meet. You can always come to the Mopar show at Farmington Dragway that weekend.

Yes, unfortunately, they have cancelled the event. We talked with Mark Painter from Purple Jalopy who is in the club and he said they couldn't get things worked out with Daytona Speedway.

We heard something about not being able to work out the liability issues for driving on the track. Why now? Or must we drive the track? Whatever the case it is cancelled. On to Farmington!

Another black eye for France and Nascar. Guess our money wasn't good enough or big enough for them. (Even though it's not Nascar related, it still is in their ballpark). Pretty soon Nascar will go the way of the IROC series.......no interest, no sponsors, no fans, no racing. Martinsville was a ghost town last week. Yeah it was not the best weather but the die hard fans were there and I suppose the rest of them stayed home because it was to cold.......boo-hoo.........cry me a frikken river. I've been at Richmond in the spring (before they moved the spring race to May) and it was like 35 degrees but the stands were packed. Oh well, sorry to see another event bite the dust.

Mmmmm what's this got to do with France or Nascar??? Just curious, as I can't make the connection here... and I believe you're way off on what might happen to Nascar. I live in Mooresville and there's just too much money tied up in it for it to go the way of IROC or Indy Car or Champ Car, or name several other series that have fallen by the wayside. My opinion, Nascar is suffering from getting too big, and getting too much money in it, and now the accountants are running it and when that happens, well, nothing EVER good comes from allowing accountants to direct your business... voice of experience here.... And by the way, not trying to start a stink, but this is a family oriented site and your avatar is "less than PC"... but I can't tell you what to do, I just find it somewhat offensive...

[Mmmmm what's this got to do with France or Nascar??? Just curious, as I can't make the connection here... If it was canceled because of liability issues with driving on the track, then the connection is the fact that the track is owned by International Speedway and ISC is owned by the Frances and NASCAR....

It could also be the charges for liablity coverage to the First Coast Cruisers...more than they were willing to pay or felt PT'ers would pay. My SSR club was on the track in January. $50 per car, 4 laps @90mph, provided tire inflations were GM spec, tops up, windows closed, 2 people per car. Richard Petty driving experience suspended drives to allow 30 SSR's on the track. HMMMMM...I wonder what the issue is with the PT's?

Not sure if it is the insurance or not. Could see if it was. Becky was going to do the same thing at Bristol and they wanted a $5000 (or $15,000, can't remember) up front fee for insurance. Could it be because the PTOC has shut down and they were part of it? Could it be that judging company they use that is suppose to provide turn-key car shows? Until we hear from them I suppose we could sit here and guess a hundred different reasons.

It was an insurance issue here at BMS. They wanted $5,000,000 insurance coverage for an 8 hour day. That size policy was selling for $15,000. One of the national club's insurance would only cover $1,000,000 but the track wouldn't come down. I decided to go play somewhere else.

Their web site has finally been updated with a cancellation notice. I guess that makes it official. On the bright side, I get to go to Farmington this year.
