I agree with Joyce... I go to the beach to get some good seafood. Can't get it up here on the mountain.

Well, Becky and Joyce, we found the seafood! Dolan, Lena, Dean Kathy, Becky and I made a scouting run to Manteo Saturday. We looked at places to visit, places to eat and places to stay. We thought we were in trouble because the same weekend we are planning to be there is a "Hog" weekend (Harleys) and everything in Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills and most of Manteo was booked for our weekend. We did indeed find a Hotel in Manteo called The Elizabethan Inn. They have blocked 20 rooms for us until April 1st, so if you are planning on going with us be sure to contact them right away. They do not take internet reservations so you will have to call 800-346-2466 and tell them you are with the PT Cruiser group. Our rate is $89 per night. The rooms are clean and decent size, have a small fridge and a coffee maker. We will be centered for most of our visiting. For the car wash folks (Tony included) there is a car wash just about 2 blocks from the hotel. OK, here is the planned itinerary: Friday morning after breakfast we will leave the hotel for a short cruise to visit Heritage Park www.roanokeisland.com where we will have a guided tour as well as a couple short videos, be able to tour the Queen Mary replica, see what life was like in the 1500's. We will also be just across a short bridge from many shops and restaurants and our plan is to spend all morning there. Plan on a very light lunch while you are there visiting cause dinner has BIG portions. We will gather together then at 1:00 PM and cruise to the Elizabethan Gardens for tours (and yes, more shops) then over to Ft. Raleigh for more tours. Once we finish there we will have free time till 4:30 when we will leave the hotel and cruise over to dinner. Our dinner is booked at 5PM, if the weather is nice we will have great views including being able to see the Bodie Lighthouse. Dinner is at Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe (don't let the name fool you) please take a look at the menu on their site at www.lonecedarcafe.com/ portions are big (AND GOOD!!!) Saturday we will leave the hotel (after breakfast) and head over to Nags Head where we will go north to Corolla. There we will visit the prettiest lighthouse on the Carolina coast, the Currituck Lighthouse. www.outerbanks.com/historiccorolla/and after that the we will tour The Whalehead Club then we will leave Corolla and head back south. There are all kinds of shops and eateries along the way so plan on stopping somewhere between there and Kitty Hawk where we will visit the Wright Brothers Museum. If you were with us last year and do not want to do the Wright Brothers Museum, you can feel free to cruise around and meet us back at the hotel where we will leave at 5PM to head to Big Al's Soda Fountain and Grille. Sunday morning we will have a good by breakfast and since most will be heading back on 64, we can cruise together. Plan on a pit stop in Plymouth at a rest area, then a short jaunt over the the Plymouth waterfront to see their river lighthouse. From there we will continue on home and upload all the photos we took. This promises to be a really fun weekend, and we look forward to seeing you there again.

As Tony said the food was great. Dolan took a picture of our plates and maybe he'll put it up so you all can see just how good the food looks. It taste as good as it looks too. Take a look at this link for some other places to eat around there a well. www.insiders.com/outerbanks/main-restaurants.htm

Yep, We are staying in one hotel for the whole cruise. Sorry no ferry rides this year. Of course, if you want to you can always cruise down to Hattaras and take the ferry to Ocrakoke

Tony, I'll be there with my technical advisor. Looking forward to it.
OK, you got my attention about the 20 rooms and everything else filled. I woke up someone a couple minutes ago and made my reservation. They only had one non-smoking room left for Thursday through Sunday (with one double size bed). We opted for a smoking room and will take our smoke chaser kit with us).
