Bridge...bridge...what bridge....I am the Fraidy Cat of all times when it comes to bridges!!! Becky can attest to that...mountain passes and bridges scare the living hoo haa out of me, but still can't wait for the Charleston experience. See you all in a few weeks!! OK folks we are virtually just one week away now!
For those who will be arriving next Friday AFTER our departure of 1pm from the host hotel you can just meet us at 5pm for dinner.
I will be sending out directions from the host hotel to Bessinger's.
Also for those who want to do their own thing during the event but may still want to meet us for dinner any night I will send out directions for all the restaurants.
The driving directions will all be from the host hotel.

Have you seen where the Host Hotel went 100% Smoke Free effective December 1, 2006? I guess they have no intentions of honoring my reservation (or the others) for smoking rooms. Is there another hotel in the area that is not "Smoke Free"? Becky  |

ATTENTION Smokers...
Becky Allen informed me tonight that our host hotel Hilton Garden Inn, has gone 'Smoke Free' as of December 1st.
This of course is as much a shock to me as it is to you because I was never informed of this coming.
I would have definitely made other arrangements so that everyone would have been able to stay at the same hotel because that's part of the fun at these events as many of you know.
I do apologize for this late inconvenience for those people affected.
I just called the hotel and voiced my concern that the 'smokers' who had made reservations months/weeks ago should at least have their smoking room honored this weekend.
I was told that even 'months ago' the entire hotel only had (5) smoking rooms so we probably booked all five of them.
Tomorrow I will call the sales manager or go see her in person and discuss this matter.
If you do indeed have to cancel and make other arrangements I will get all that info together and send it out tomorrow after I get home from work.
Good news is that there are several hotels close by to the Hilton so at least if you do need to make other arrangements we will still be all close together.
Once again...sorry about this latest (and very late) news concerning the hotel situation for the 'PT Charleston Christmas'.

 Absolutely no way you could have known that would happen. Shame on Hilton Garden Inn for not notifying incoming guests and you. I have moved my reservations to the Hampton Inn (great rate) and understand it's just down the street from the Hilton. This move will not stop me from being in the middle of things with everyone...........only 2 more days and I'm on my way!! Thanks to the both of you for pulling this together!!

For those that have moved their reservation to the Hampton Inn here are easy directions to the Hilton Garden Inn and you can just meet us at Sportz Cafe now on Thursday evening around 6pm.
Come out of the parking lot of the Hampton and turn left.
Turn LEFT onto W. Montague (I think there is a traffic light there).
Go only about 1/4 mile and you will see Sportz Cafe on your left.
DIRECTLY across the street from Sportz Cafe is International Blvd where you turn RIGHT to go to the Hilton Garden Inn.
Go about 1/2 mile and the Hilton is on your LEFT.

Here's the latest on the 'Smoking Rooms' issue directly from the Sales Manager at the Hilton Garden Inn.
She is the one that I have been dealing with all along...
If anyone made a reservation and had specified a 'Smoking' room they should have been told THEN that there would be no smoking rooms available any longer as of December 1st.
If you were not told that at the time of your reservation then she deeply apologizes and she is a smoker herself so she knows how you feel by this.
She was also not aware that anyone had in fact 'requested' a smoking room in our group.
And the problem now is that the (5) rooms that they had are now shut down and being renovated,cleaned,painted etc.
She is checking close by to see what is available for smoking rooms besides the Hampton Inn.

By The Way...there is NOT a traffic light where you will turn LEFT onto W. Montague from the Hampton Inn.

UPDATE if you absolutely need a smoking room...
Quality Suites on Arco Lane has rooms for $99 and is only about 1 block from the Hilton Garden Inn. Phone is 843 747-7300 or 1 800 424-6423.
Check the Hampton Inn first where Becky and Beverly have booked.
Both are about 1 block away from the Hilton.

Tom,
I do not hold you responsible for the Hilton's decision to go smoke free and NOT tell anybody! I find as an event planner, stuff happens... and you have recovered nicely! I look forward to a fun weekend in Charleston with all my cruiser buddies! It's the Hilton that will lose out in the end... let their rooms that we had reserved sit empty. The Hampton Inn was more than accommodating and we got a lower rate! See all y'all on Thursday! Everybody have a safe trip!
