Well, another fine event goes into the books. Sweet as a Peach V was held in Athens, Georgia last weekend and was a resounding success! Although our numbers were small, we had the finest group of cruisers one could hope to assemble. And the bottom line is that we were able to donate $2084 to the American Heart Association!
So, where do I start? Let's see, we had 19 PTs registered in the show and five others that came to be a part of the show without entering. We had cars there from 6 different states; Indiana, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, and Georgia.
Many thanks to:
Our on-site vendors, PT Boutique (Bill and Linda Robertson) and PurpleJalopy.com (Mark and Jody Painter). I know you might not have made a mint from this show, but we were very grateful to have you and to be able to show some southern hospitality.
Our HUGE source of door prizes and raffle prizes, DieCastRoad.com (Bob and Gail Williams).
Our Georgia Square Mall host, Katie Schell, who arranged a magnificent parking and viewing area for our show that attracted hundreds of spectators.
Our very own personal queen, Hayley Wilson, Miss Georgia Jr. Teen America ( www.gateenamerica.com/HayleysPage.html ) for her splendid participation. Additionally, thanks to her sister, Rachel, the Special Gwinnett Ambassador! Oh, and thanks to their mother, Janet, for letting us borrow them and bringing them to us!
Jack "Mr. Clean" Scales, Joan Mullane, Kevin and Brande Watkins, Hayley, Wanda Gumz, and Miranda O'Connor, our lovely models for the charity fashion show! Also, our wonderful emcee, Pam Scales. In his next life, we expect Jack will be a Chippendale model!!! Also, thanks to PT Boutique for graciously donating all of the auction items, including the Cruizin Cooler!
The Elks Lodge of Athens for the great facility and meal for our Awards dinner/fashion show/charity auction/goof-off time.
The host hotel, Howard Johnson, for their help in keeping us all together and giving us plenty of room for our vendors!
Kevin and Brande Watkins for their help in putting together all the details.
Most of all, thanks to each of you who participated for opening your wallets and hearts to help the American Heart Association (so capably represented by Kasey Dillard). You folks exemplify the spirit of southern grace and charm! I especially thank those of you who came from afar!
Oh, yeah. We also had some pretty cool cars. Awards went to:
Frank and Joan Mullane - Peachiest
Rick and Barbara Sanders - Charity's Choice
Wes and Tracey Culbertson - Best Rear End
Top Five
Jack and Pam Scales
Gene and Pam Lowery
Beverly Green
David Chestnut
