Becky, Does the train excursion price include lunch? Seems like when Debbie and I did it several years ago we had a choice of a 'box' lunch or dining at the restaurant when you have the lay over during the trip. No. You are on your own for lunch.

I seem to remember there is a nice little restaurant right there off the railroad tracks when you stop for the lay-over ;D

Becky, Are you setting up anything for the "box lunches" like you did last year or are we "on our own" to get something for lunch?

I believe we can get something in the store at the lay over point......that will be much easier than trying to get a lunch prepared before we leave early that morning. I think that will be my choice.
Thanks, Carrol

What happened to the nice restaurant that was right there off the tracks on the right? Seems like it was up on a hill. Is it no longer there or will that be too much of a hassle with so many people?

Unfortunately we will miss the Smokies this year. The local High School graduates that Saturday. Too many of our kids friends graduating and parties to go to. The 2 high schools here rotate graduation times..and ours is 11AM on Saturday. Next year when Kayla graduates, her graduation will be 8AM.

www.carolinaptcruisers.com/GatlinburgV.htm Currently we have attendees coming from NC, SC, TN, VA, GA, AL, FL, OH, PA & CA! Here are a few updates/reminders for those planning on attending Cruise The Smokies 5: ALL Registration Forms must be postmarked no later than APRIL 15, 2006. Anything postmarked after April 15th will be returned to sender. This is to give the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad a headcount and payment for the group on April 22, 2006. There will be no refund after payment has been made. The Registration Form can be found on the Event Webpage Link above. Even if you do not intend to take the train excursion, it would be nice if I knew you were coming so I can have enough dash plaques for everybody. The Host Hotel (Greystone Lodge at the Aquarium) is NOT PET FRIENDLY. Please check webpage for rates, location & phone numbers. I have added the Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort which IS PET FRIENDLY to the webpage for those that would like to bring their critters along. You will have to negotiate your own room rate if you choose to stay there. I have set up a store at Cafe Press for Event Merchandise www.cafepress.com/smokies_5. Check it out, there is something there for everybody! These items will NOT be available at the event and must be purchased in advance. Proceeds from the sale of event merchandise will help me recover my expenses for the event. If anyone has questions, please let me know and I'll try my best to answer them! I'm looking forward to seeing all of you again in Gatlinburg! Becky

Becky, I have a suggestion for one of our dinners. Eat at the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant at the 'Apple Barn' complex in Pigeon Forge www.applewoodfarmhouserestaurant.com/home.htmlI will volunteer to lead the caravan if needed. We can be there in about 20-25 minutes from where we're staying in Gatlinburg. Once we decide which night and how many are going I will call ahead and let them know we're coming. They also have a huge parking lot that will work good for us. This is great delicious homestyle cooking and you will be full when you leave there...I guarantee! The Apple Barn is an awesome place! It's a must stop when you visit that area.

Love the Apple Barn. Susie and I try to go there on every trip to that area. They close a tad early which is why we didn't make it on the last Gatlinburg cruise. Have ya been there for breakfast? Wow....Love it!
